Alicia Boya García 136b2e0eae tracers: Document the 'log' tracer 
This patch adds documentation to the 'log' tracer and amends the design
document of Tracers to replace a misleading example of the 'log' tracer
with a different example that uses tracer arguments with tracers that do
actually handle said arguments.

Thibault Saunier f7b342f1dd base:navigation: Cleanup navigation key modifiers enum 
We were exposing the 'ALT' modifier as if we were guaranteeing its
accuracy but truth is we were only exposing configuration dependent
values.

Make the API simpler for now, the same way as Gtk3 was exposing it, and
when we have time to guarantee more values by making them take backends
configuration into account, we will expose those values in a accurate
way.

Piotr Brzeziński 3bb8700577 macos: Add wrapper API to run a NSApplication in the main thread 
On macOS, a Cocoa event loop is needed in the main thread to ensure
things like opening a GL window work correctly. In the past, this was
patched into glib via Cerbero, but that prevented us from updating it.
This workaround simply runs an NSApplication and then calls the
main function on a secondary thread, allowing GStreamer to correctly
display windows and/or system permission prompts, for example.

Nicolas Dufresne 5980fb76e7 video: Add arbitrary tile dimensions support 
In current tile representation, only tiles with power of two
width and height in bytes are supported. This limitation
prevents adding more complex tiles formats.

In this patch, we deprecate tile_ws and tile_hs from GstVideoFormatInfo and
replace if with an array of GstVideoTileInfo. Each plane tiles are then
described with their pixels width/height, line stride and total size.
The helper gst_video_format_info_get_tile_sizes() that depends on the
deprecated API is also being removed. This can simply be removed as it wasn't
in any stable release yet.

Nirbheek Chauhan a0e6278dba meson: Use implicit builtin dirs in pkgconfig generation 
Starting with Meson 0.62, meson automatically populates the variables
list in the pkgconfig file if you reference builtin directories in the
pkgconfig file (whether via a custom pkgconfig variable or elsewhere).
We need this, because ${prefix}/libexec is a hard-coded value which is
incorrect on, for example, Debian.

Bump requirement to 0.62, and remove version compares that retained
support for older Meson versions.

Edward Hervey af78c16dd5 New HLS, DASH and MSS adaptive demuxer elements 
This provides new HLS, DASH and MSS adaptive demuxer elements as a single plugin.

These elements offer many improvements over the legacy elements. They will only
work within a streams-aware context (`urisourcebin`, `uridecodebin3`,
`decodebin3`, `playbin3`, ...).

Stream selection and buffering is handled internally, this allows them to
directly manage the elementary streams and stream selection.

Xavier Claessens b004464ac6 Remove glib and gobject dependencies everywhere 
They are part of gst_dep already and we have to make sure to always have
gst_dep. The order in dependencies matters, because it is also the order
in which Meson will set -I args. We want gstreamer's config.h to take
precedence over glib's private config.h when it's a subproject.

While at it, remove useless fallback args for gmodule/gio dependencies,
only gstreamer core needs it.

Vivienne Watermeier 8648275601 navigation: Improve interface to avoid exposing implementation details 
This deprecates the current send_event interface, and the wrapper
functions based on it, replacing it with a send_event_simple interface and
wrapper function. Together with the new event constructors, this avoids
implementations having to directly access the underlying structure.

Showing existing keyframe have special meaning in AV1. All the references
frame will be refreshed with the original keyframe information. The refresh
process (7.20) is implemented by saving data from the frame_header into the
state. To fix this special case, load all the relevant information into the
frame_header.

As there is nothing happening in between this and the loading of the key-frame
into the state, this patch also remove the separate API function, using it
internally instead.

Sebastian Fricke 0b6bbce012 Remove the uninstalled term 
Remove the symbolic link `gst-uninstalled` which points to `gst-env`.
The `uninstalled` is the old name and the project should stick to a
single name for the procedure.
Remove the term from all the files, exceptions are variables from
dependencies like `uninstalled_variables` from pkgconfig and
`meson-uninstalled`.
Adjust mentions of the script in the documentation and README.

Nirbheek Chauhan 8594878337 docs: Explain how to open a merge request with screenshots 
The merge request workflow can be confusing to people unfamiliar with
it, so add screenshots.

Also add a new section on how to revise merge requests, since a lot of
people tend to open new merge requests to make any changes.

Eliminate the separate "How to Prepare a Merge Request for Submission"
section -- merge it with the main section.
