SearXNG is a free internet metasearch engine which aggregates results from various search services and databases. Users are neither tracked nor profiled.

This allow to read settings on the fly even without virtualenv. The ultimate goal of the commit is to remove utils/brand.env from the git repository. The code includes a tiny yaml parser that **should** be good enough. The code read searx/settings.yml directly (and ignore the environment variables). yq [1] is a more reliable alternative but this require to download a binary from github which is not great. You can contribute from your browser using GitHub Codespaces:
- Fork the repository
- Click on the
<> Code
green button - Click on the
Codespaces
tab instead ofLocal
- Click on
Create codespace on master
- VSCode is going to start in the browser
- Wait for
git pull && make install
to appear and then disappear - You have 120 hours per month (see also your list of existing Codespaces)
- You can start SearXNG using
make run
in the terminal or by pressingCtrl+Shift+B
