Brian Cameron f3c032e6ac goom: add edx to clobber list in inline assembly code 
mull modifies %edx, so should be mentioned in clobber list.
Fixes crash on Solaris (#615998).

Add license headers in all source files. Remove filter.c from
EXTRA_DIST, as its in SOURCES already. Mention the files in the REDME
which are not used right now. Fixes #557709.

Fix various GCC-isms, and only build the inline assembly
with compilers that support GCC inline assembly.
Fix a couple of other warnings shown with Forte.
